When to Call More At Geese

When to Call More At Geese

Some days geese want to hear the goose calling, and some days they don’t. In this early season goose hunting video, a September Canada goose hunt shows exactly how much that can change.

We had the sun at our back and birds approaching straight into it. They had a hard time visually locating the decoy spread, but as soon as we got aggressive on the goose calls, birds started hooking right into us.

The key to calling geese is to watch them. Get super specific on what they respond to and what tends to push them away. Pay attention to how the birds are reacting, adjust your goose calling, and don’t be afraid to test them. These goose hunting tips come straight from what we saw in the field. Sometimes those birds that look like they’re just passing by simply need a little help finding you.

Notice too that the layout blinds were incredibly well matched to the context of our field. No amount of championship goose calling can help a hunter who gets spotted.
